Thank you for the information! I downloaded the hotfix but unfortunately it has not resolved my issue. My SD card is still not being detected. When I insert it into the embedded card reader, I do hear Windows detect that it's there, I get a prompt to install drivers for the card and there's a conflict in device manager. I've tried rebooting, the hotfix, updating drivers & uninstalling drivers from within Device Manager and reinstalling the card reader's drivers from the HP website. Nothing has helped. Any suggestions....anyone? I have an HP Pavilion 9235nr, running Windows Vista Premium 32 bit. Thank you.
I too have the exact same prblem and there is no solution that I can find. I called HP and Microsoft and they could not help me. I tried to disable all of the new "User Control" settings and that did nothing. Installed roll-up package and a gain nothing. I tried to uninstall the device drivers for the SD host Controller and the root hubs and let Vista reinstall the default drivers for such devices and Vista could not find the drivers for those devices either. I have two other XP machines one with SD Host Controller listed in the Device menu and one without. The one without loads my sd cards fine and like it should the one with will no longer load SD cards but once did. I am unsure if the host controller was there before or not but I do know that I have two machines that do not work and that is the only common element is the SD Host Contoller. If anyone else has the solution to a very frustrating issue please let us know.
This fix does not apply to my condition. I insert the sd card and nothing happens, no drive in my computer, nothing. The reader worked just fine in xp, but not since the upgrade. Installed vista drivers the whole shooting match, nothing is working......what's up with that?
When I tried to dowload the update kb936825, i could not. i got the message "Update does not apply"
I can not access the card thru the built in card reader in my Toshiba laptop. However I can access the card while it is in my camera with the usb cable connected to the laptop. the laptop has microsoft vista on it.
Same problem here. The PCMCIA card reader is detected just fine in Vista but when I insert an SD card nothing happens. I've installed the patch (At first I had the "Update does not apply" message but I used a workaround and got it to install) but it does not seem to help. I'm hoping that MS fixes this problem soon because I'm on the verge of going back to XP. (and yes it did work in XP)
Well I had a fujitsu siemens amilo pro v2045 and after updating to Windows Vista, my sd/mmc card reader could not read my sd card.....the thing is my storage device/controller is made by Texas Instruments which made drivers only for XP,,,,therefore vista could not read the card reader....so what did i do........simple ...did research on similar drivers for VISTA by Texas instruments and found one that if you have Texas Instruments PCIxx21/x515/xx12
use this drivers : http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Other-DRIVERS-TOOLS/Others/Texas-Instruments-PCIxx21-x515-xx12-Integrated-Driver-2007.shtml
New Sony CR series, Vista Home Premium
Same here...my SD card reader did not work out of the box. Either exploring the device would hang or I would get the error: "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error." After the usual troubleshooting steps/diags, went to Sony's updates site & saw an update for: Texas InstrumentsĀ® Integrated FlashMedia Controller It was a manual update, so I d/l'd it & installed it & it worked like a charm. This update apparently fixes some sort of compatibility issue. ![]()

Running Hp Pavillion DV6000 P.O.S.
I have been having trouble with the card reader and sd cards since vista. Apparenly the card reader in here has embedded drivers for xp. The sd card used to get picked up as a usb drive and had use of readyboost. Now when I insert the card it asks for drivers and windows cannot find. Tried the rollup but does not apply. Micro$oft Vi$ta blows.

AND FOR XP Getting Error For MicroSD 1 GB Error is "Cannot copy, I/O Device error"
I am the same problem, i have install the issue of the microsoft and the problem persist
Tks
what did you do to get it to work?
I just got a brand new windows vista premium on 10/15/08 and the card reader doesn't work.
did you install any portion of the AVG antivirus, ever?
if yes, remove it completely....
Get XP, or better yet Linux, and it will work. What a pain getting this SD reader on Vista to work has been...just another microsoft blunder
try running a tftp server and see what happens if you don't right click, run as administrator, what garbage...
Hi maybe you know that exist a driver for palm that can read a sdhc
