I knew this day would come sometime, but I didn't expect to lose my grandfather, Robert J. Bishop, last Friday. He had a long battle with cancer. I had been planning on spending time around the house and spending time around town with family and relatives, during the next few weeks during my vacation.
We had the visitation tonight, so that sped up my plans quite a bit. I'm bummed out, but at the same time, it was a celebration of his life. Not everyone can say they made it to age 83.
On a good note, I found out this morning that I was awarded the
Microsoft MVP for Windows - User/Shell. This is extremely exciting for me because it validates everything I have done on this website in the past few years.
This site originally started out as a little knowledgebase for myself when I was onsite at customer sites. Now, to a certain extent, it is full blown resource for IT professionals around the world. Some people take smoke breaks at work, whereas I take blog breaks.
It is amazing the amount of people I have met and reconnected with based solely on them looking for solutions to problems in various search engines that directed them to this site in one form or another.
