Thanks so much!
I have the instant messaging program Pidgin, and one of it's faults is that there is an error that makes it beep if you backspace in an instant message that you haven't typed anything in yet, it would beep. The fix they had for it didn't work on my computer... This shut it up! ^_^ -Ray
That's how I got here too. Easily the most sanity-saving tip in ages!
Hi Ray,
there is an option in the GTK+: "and just for everyones knowledge, what I thought was a typo was not, put gtk-error-bell = 0 in the file %APPDATA%\.purple\gtkrc-2.0 " from http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/3683
and, depending on which you used, type the following to enable:
net start beep sc config beep start= boot
UR awesome! Worked like a charm. For a while I though I was destined to blow out my eardrums every time I adjusted the volume.
