I still don't understand why the client components of OCS are all only hotfixes and not updates which means we can't get them through WSUS. But this is brilliant - a a high priority update for the servers, but nothing pushed to clients automatically to take advantage.
Furthermore, the .msp hotfixes behave differently than any other .msp MSFT releases so it's impossible to actually integrate them into the Communicator.msi file. Has anyone tried this successfully? From what we've tried the only solution is to create a custom package and apply the updates via a batch or VB script. The MSP's flat out don't integrate with the MSI's.
The OCS 2007 server update is security related so it makes sense to update the clients as well when the server-client communcations channel is affected. However, this fact is NOT indicated in any of the client fixes you reference.
