omg.
2 days after I get the autoupdate working and I find this. - Steve Hahn
I was in the same boat, which is why I came up with the little workaround.
I have come across conflicting information regarding the use of R2 client in a R1 / R2 mixed environment. Can R2 client be deployed to work with OCS 2007 R1 prior to upgrading to OCS 2007 R2?
FWIW, I was advised by MS sometime ago to make sure R1 users did NOT log on to an R2 client as it could/would corrupt their OC profile.
In saying this, I haven't tested it to confirm.
Has anyone had luck slipping this patch into the installer? I tried "msiexec /a communicator.msi /p communicator.msp" (obviously in this directory) ... I get a resulting pfiles and Windows folder and the MSI is modified but when you run it during copying new files step it says "The file UCDLL cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in the cabinet file "MsgrCore.cab" ....
I've tried to merge the .83 patch in and get the same error, did you get anywhere with that?
