Currently in beta, but available for basic OCS connectivity/certificate tests is the
Microsoft OCS Remote Connectivity Analyzer.
I would only use test user accounts when debugging issues with this website just to err on the side of caution.
This will most likely be my first stop whenever I'm trying to help someone troubleshoot an OCS edge server connectivity issue.
Right now you can manually specify your server settings or have the server attempt to autodiscover your OCS settings.
According to the website, future plans include: "Deeper level of diagnostic information - MSDiagnostics header", and "Additional tests".
An example run through of a diagnostic:
Attempting to Resolve the host name
