I've been delaying my request for a VMWare Workstation license until I bumped into this web page.

Basically, it boils down to this: Customers must purchase a qualifying Workstation 5.5 product, listed in the table below, either from VMware or an authorized reseller, between January 1, 2007 and the general availability of Workstation 6.

USB 2.0 guest support, 'record and rewind' of the VM, and very nice Vista host/guest support are the big items I like about the 6.0 beta so far.

Microsoft has released a downloadable virtual machine to ease the pain of the DST changes in Exchange environments. This VPC comes preinstalled with the tools you need to run the calendar update tools.

I'm actually a big fan of premade/freely downloadable virtual machines. I hope the trend continues.

It looks like on 02/08/07, VMWare published a new beta build of Workstation 6.0, build 39849. I didn't run into too many problems with 36983, but I am guessing that this version has even better support for Vista and bug fixes.
