Need to search nested public folders or e-mail folders in Outlook 2003?
Want search capabilities that are closer to Outlook 2007?
Note: This assumes you are using an Exchange e-mail account, in cached Exchange mode.
#1. Install
Windows Desktop Search 3.01 for Windows XP.
#2. Install
Windows Live Toolbar.
#3. Inside Outlook, go to Tools, E-mail Accounts, “View or change existing e-mail accounts”, Press “Change” on ‘Microsoft Exchange Server’, go to “More Settings”, go to “Advanced” and in the ‘Cached Exchange Mode Settings”, select “Download Public Folder Favorites”.
#4. Close Outlook, go to “Windows Desktop Search’, select the public folders and e-mail folders you want indexed and have it rebuild the indexes. Any Favorite public folder you have selected be indexed after the Windows Desktop Search 'notices' that you have updated the configuration. You can then search from Windows Desktop Search for e-mail and public folder items much like Outlook 2007 does natively.
