Sometimes I can't believe the things people do sometimes.

As of today, 08-13-2007, they are practically identical, if not word for word in most entries. Not only that, the second site is hotlinking the graphics directly from the original site.

Update: 08-14-2007 - The website mentioned above went offline with a generic "Under construction" page instead.

For some reason, there seems to be a band of zombie compromised systems out on the internet that keep trying to exploit an old s9y (the blogging software used here) bug that has been patched/fixed for years. I realize there can be really old copies of s9y around, but this isn't one of them.

So, if the site seems slow, it is probably due to all the bogus requests coming into comment.php. I've been doing some .htaccess magic to punt 99% of them off the server, but of course, they always add more and different IPs into the mix as time goes on.

I don't like disabling comments and I don't like enabling CAPTCHAs, and so far, my efforts have blocked 99.99% of the trackback and comment spam without the need of other measures. I would say one comment every other month slips by the automated system and gets flagged as a 'needs moderation' comment.

Considering that this site seems to get numerous comment spams per second, that is a pretty good track record.

It looks like just the core applications support the keyboards so far but I think as time goes on, more and more applications will support USB keyboards.

I plugged in the Dell USB keyboard I normally keep plugged into the XBox and was surprised to see that I could type inside the various Wii menus. As I have browsed various sites today, other people have mentioned USB keyboard support working. I hadn't tried it until just after I upgraded the Wii, so it was a bit of a fluke for me.

At age 32, I get to get all 4 wisdom teeth taken out later this month. Right now, one of them has a lovely infection behind it, so I am on antibiotics and have a good 100+ temperature fever going. As a bit of a pick me up, I rented Mario Strikers Charged, which is essentially Mario Soccer, or in Europe, football. Very fun game so far. I'm not very good at it but it is a fun game. I'm not sure if I will buy it eventually or not, especially now that I have access to the Virtual Console games. Metroid is supposed to debut on the Virtual Console next Monday apparently.

Hooray! I can finally access the Virtual games and other goodies in the shopping center! I doubt I'll be able to play online decently until something better than a mobile phone 1xRTT connection is available in my neck of the woods.

As a sidenote: Boo to the US government for not allowing the rural bandwidth allocation this week.
