I'm doing a lot with Server 2008 lately so expect many Server 2008-centric posts for a while.

Another day, another service pack release.

If you go to the Server 2008, SQL 2008, and Visual Studio 2008 launch event in your area, it looks like you will be getting some Not-For-Resale goodies.

1. Windows Server 2008 Enterprise RTM (64 and 32 bit) with a product key
2. Visual Studio 2008 Standard RTM
3. SQL Server 2008 CTP 5.0 with a voucher for a RTM copy when available

About 20 fixes, plus one that we have encountered quite a bit with Sharepoint 2007:
Every time that a crawl is run to crawl site collections, memory usage for the OSearch process (Msssearch.exe) increases.

Sharepoint superstar Tom Dietz pointed out a helpful hotfix if your Sharepoint/WSS Timer Service keeps throwing errors in the event log. Even though it might seem like bad memory in the server, it is most likely related to KB 946517.

Symptoms include:
Event IDs with 6398, or 6432, or 7076 are logged.
Tasks that are scheduled with the Sharepoint Timer service do not run.
