Tuesday, June 6. 2006Has someone figured out how to 'hack' the Dish PVR-942? Why is Dish Network offering the new VIP-622 to 942 owners for free?Trackbacks

Echostar 622 PVR I have a question. Is there any way to capture/transfer the programs off the 622 via the USB, or any other port on the back of the 622???
AFAIK, the 622 uses a LINUX ext3 filesystem, and some 'standard' linux formats for media files.
If you have linux, you can REMOVE the disk, mount it on a LINUX machine and remove media. On Windows, there are programs which will mount ext3 disks open source. I bought their USB off-load capability, unfortunately. It re-formats your USB drive to ext3 (a problem for Windows users), and then downloads media..... ENCRYPTED. ick. I would need to restore my encrypted media back to the DVR, then pull the disk to recover media |
