Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard without the Microsoft dongle - what is the trick to get it working?

I've tried pairing it with a HP laptop that has the HP-branded WIDCOMM drivers loaded into Windows XP. I've tried pairing it with my Bluetooth dongle at home that is based on a different version of WIDCOMM, which is now owned by Broadcom.

Hopefully Broadcom will not follow the same trend that WIDCOMM did with their strange licensing agreements which made downloading Bluetooth drivers and upgraded/updated stacks next to impossible.

I believe I've also tried the native XP SP2 Bluetooth stack without much luck. With both WIDCOMM stacks, they can find the keyboard and initiate pairing, even being able to type in the numbers on the keyboard and hitting [Enter] but as soon as that completes, the connection drops between the system and the keyboard.

Very frustrating, there has to be a solution because this is sort-of a hand-me-down keyboard that no one was using because the dongle was lost a long time ago apparently. I've been trying to get it to work because I'm a big fan of Bluetooth, when it works, and hate wires in general.

If anyone has any tips on this, I'd love to hear them.

I was wondering if you had any luck with this problem? I've got the same Microsoft Keyboard Elite for Bluetooth and am trying to figure out a way to pair it up with my laptop that has integrated bluetooth, without using the microsoft USB bluetooth tranceiver. Has anyone found a way? or is it a lost cause. The way I see it, is what is the point of bluetooth if you still have to use a specialized dongle to connect even though your system has bluetooth integrated. it doesn't make sense. does anybody have a solution?

I was finally able to pair the keyobard with my bluetooth dongle. I used the following process. As root I found the address of my keyboard:
(press the connect button on the back of the keyboard)

hcitool scan
Scanning...
00:00:00:00:00:00 Microsoft Keyboard

then use hidd to connect the keyboard:

hidd --connect 00:00:00:00:00:00
(but use the actual address of your keyboard)

Although if you don't have the bluetooth patches for HID report protocol mode support, you'll want to d/l them and apply them to your kernel.

У меня такой вопрос,кто что интересное подскажет буду признателен.
Мы с друзьями собираемся поехать в круиз по просторам России и ближнего зарубежья месяца на два на своих машинах,но не как не можем согласовать маршрут,если у кого уже был опыт такого путешествия,может,что посоветуете.Девчонок с собой не берем,думаем,что во все городах России с этим не будет проблем,если у кого будут рекомендации и в вопросе отдыха с девушками тоже буду признателен.
