AARON! Im running OCS 2007 R2 on Server 2008 R2, with SQL 2008 R2 as my backend. All was going just fine, until I installed the CU7 update (ServerUpdatePackage)...

now after reboot, my FE wont start!!!

Please help, it's Friday, and I broke the cardinal rule of trying to update on a Friday.... please help me enjoy at least SOME of my weekend??

This error it throws, "The Office Communications Server Front-End service terminated with service-specific error %%-1007781640"

and some Googling said to run OCS2009DBUpdate, but when I run it on the main FE server, it says to install SQL Server 2005 Client Tools, and when it run it on my SQL 2008 R2 back-end server, it says the same thing!!

Can you tell me why I shouldn't disable IPv6? I know the cable guys says not to but we have a v4 infrastructure and it's already confusing our techs. If we don't need it, why bother- like AppleTalk?
Possible solution: I have seen this posted and tried on 4 Win7 64 bit pc's. They all had the value which I changed and all now are able to install/unintall which they could not earlier. Hope it helps!

HERE IS THE FIX THAT WORKED FOR ME : Start, then Run, then type regedit Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENT CONTROL SET\SERVICES\MSIserver\WOW64 Right click on WOW64, then select Modify Set Value Data to 0 (mine was set at 1) and Base should be Hexadecimal Close everything, reboot, and see if you can uninstall or reinstall...............it worked for me. Don't bother with Office XP Pro and Windows 7..............it screws up everything.

This was my first modem, I saved up any penny I could get back when I was 10 years old. I spent many a day connecting to the local Rochester, NY Atari BBSes (Thanks Bob Puff!). This thing hauled for the day.. had to leave it behind when I picked a 1200 baud.

Here a simple 3 lines sample, copy it to notepad and then save it as "Show All Devices.cmd" (make sure you do write the inverted commas in the file name so the extension will be .cmd and not .cmd.txt)

@echo off
Set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
mmc devmgmt.msc /s

put the cmd file anywhere (you can create a shortcut and set it to launch the window minimized so you won't see a bit black cmd window in the back... but it does not really does anything...)

to see really all of the hidden devices you TICK the 'V' in the view menu that says "show hidden devices".
also- a small tip, you view the devices tree sorted by type (default view) in this case you should browse the tree and open sub-nodes to find out what your looking for, or change the view to "devices by connection" (in the "view" menu), this way you've got a wider perspective, you can try to type the first few letters of the device's name to jump right into the relevant line.

Hope that helps,
Elad Karako
I have the exact same issue, and also nothing but the un-deleteable "Default" registry key at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions. Did anyone ever find a fix for this?

On my partners laptop the winsxs foler is 11GB.
80gb hdd, 12gb for hidden factory restore image, windows uses 50%, hiberbation is about 2gb, system restore is over 10gb and that doesn't leave much for general apps etc, I know a 500gb laptop hdd is only about $55AU but we dont have that free.
This to me doesn't seem to be a very slip streamed operating system so to speak.
I have tweaked system restore and hiberbation etc, is there a way to cut this folder down or loose it all together, her laptop only has about 20 small things installed, itunes, firefox, office (word, excel) and that is about it..

Your RSS reader might have the original post cached. I updated the post soon after to take out the downloads. The last thing I want is to do something that would violate the license.

The list of updates is still valid though and the request links go directly to Microsoft, so it should clear up any confusion on the matter, hopefully.

    Hi,

th move user problem can be solved by righ tclick on the OCS 2007 R2 Console - properties - shortcut - advanced "Run as administrator".
Afterwards I was able to move users from OCS 2007 to OCS 2007 R2 Server installed on a Windows 2008 R2.

Best Regards
