Wow I was not aware of this Caller Line ID\Name change in Mediation Server and Communicator. Looks like a big shift of option by Microsoft. Makes a lot of sense in pbx coexistence scenarios.

Looks pretty SIP standard based. I guess our snom phones will respect it Need to check with my co-workers...
Hi Aaron,

Thanks for putting this information together. At Enabling we've been doing a lot of OCS 2007 R2 installs and this problem has crept up on virtually every install that had HP servers! I don't recall a case on other manufacturers gear!
Have you fixed the issue by installing the hotfix?
I'm having the same issue on Win2k8R2 EE-FE and Edge in one project. I have installed the hotfix on the FE and edge and still receive error event 36888, severe warning: 10, and internal error status of 1023.
I haven't tried all functions yet, though.

Just wondering if there is a simlar workaround for Windows 7 Media Center. At one time I had my Vista Media Center working in the domain.. and the upgrade to 7 kept it there. But now I have a fresh MC install, and I can't get it to work.

Just ran into these threads - interesting. Where my heartburn lies is in the inordinate amount of disk access going on involving these files. Task Manager gives access to Resource Monitor, and the amount of disk I/O involving files in this sxs folder is gigantic and seems way out of proportion on a machine sitting around doing (next to) nothing. Just what's going on here???

I removed Office 2003, Frontpage 2003, Office 2010 32-bit. Because they were 32 bit. If you want to use 64 bit Office2010 you must remove all of them. Because they are related which one to other in a way, SQL, ODBC...

And there are some 32 bit programs in Office 2010 64 bit already. But they will be 64 bit with Windows updates, if releases 64 bit version of these old programs.

I added your page to my favorites. Have a good day.

its really annoying, that no sign of this outlook2010 integration fix can be found in the fixlist.

My advanced powerusers gave me headache about asking why the outlook integration with outlook2k10 x64 is not working at all, and it just suddenly turned OK after the updates got applied. I just stayed there without answers.

I thought that you might want to know that the Creative sound driver for Vista 32 bit guests under VMWare that you referenced on your page at http://blog.tiensivu.com/aaron/archives/1462-Creative-Labs-SoundBlaster-PCI-128-driver-link-for-VMWare-guests-Vista-and-Windows-Server-2008.html can also work for Windows 7 guests as well. I just successfully used that driver to get the sound working for a Windows 7 (release candidate) guest under VMWare Workstation 5.5.5. We'll see if it goes as smoothly for the actual Windows 7.

The curse of the copy and paste - I need to update the entry anyway because I've discovered something new that wasn't there or documented. The Outlook integration works for Outlook 2010 x64 now because it has API support for the new 64-bit Office!!

Thanks for the kind words.. I really appreciate being accepted so fast into the group.

    Hi Aaron,

Small correction - the Jan 2010 update to Communicator 2007 R2 brings it to .83 (instead of .82 - not that it matters a whole lot....when I read it on your blog I thought maybe I had missed a previous hotfix).

Great blog and congrat's on the move to a OCS MVP - well deserved!
although no changelog yet, I see that caller name sent from PBX is still not visible on Tanjay. I am waiting for the functionality since about 6 months, when it was introduced in Communicator R2, but it seems nobody is interested in hearing my voice

This is good info! Thanks for commenting. I'm testing out HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Communicator\GalUseCompactDeltaFile = 0 and HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Communicator\GalDownloadInitialDelay = 0 (because I'm impatient for debugging - only).
So far so good - and that explains those "C-" files I had been wondering about.. and I can't seem to find any good source info on their existence.
